Library Assistant – Bilingual (Spanish/English) - Youth Services

 

Hours:  40 hours per week
Hourly Rate:  $16.00

The Fox River Valley Public Library District is seeking a passionate Youth Services Bilingual Library Assistant to join our team!   This position plays an essential role in our programming and outreach efforts for children aged 0-12 and their caregivers.  The assistant will plan and present youth programs including storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers as well as represent the library at outreach events in the community.  

The successful applicant will be:
•    Imaginative and energetic
•    Passionate and knowledgeable about children’s literature
•    Able to plan and deliver youth programs for both in-house and outreach efforts
•    Comfortable working in busy and fast-paced environment
•    Enjoys being part of team environment
•    Genuine desire to help and serve youth and caregivers
•    Familiar with existing and emerging technology to assist youth and caregivers
 
Educational requirement:  Bachelor’s degree or two years’ experience working a public service desk in a public library. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel; the internet, email, and databases.

Librarian – Bilingual (Spanish/English) -Youth Services

The Fox River Valley Public Library District is seeking a community-driven and dynamic librarian who is passionate about working with children aged 0-12 and their caregivers and looking to take library services to the next level.  If you are great at multitasking, embracing change, and an out-of-the-box thinker, we’d love to hear from you.
The Youth Services Librarian is responsible for developing and managing library collections, overseeing volunteers, coordinating outreach activities with community partners, and planning and presenting library programs for families and children.  Applicants with Spanish-speaking skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant:
•    An out-of-the box thinker, creative, and familiar with library trends as it relates to youth services
•    Able to work in a changing work environment
•    Knowledgeable of emerging technologies and trends
•    Comfortable with the technologies necessary to help patrons navigate the library environment in person, by phone and online
•    Will be fluent in both reading and writing in Spanish

Educational requirement:  MLS from an ALA accredited school

Public Services Clerk

 

Hours:  16 hours per week
Hourly Rate:  $12.59 per hour

Do you have a passion for libraries?  Can you juggle a variety of tasks while welcoming every visitor with a warm smile and a friendly greeting?  

Job # 1 for our Public Service Clerks is to deliver top-notch customer service experiences to library visitors while making them feel at home. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: issuing library cards; creating interesting displays; organizing returns on the shelves; and assisting visitors accessing resources with technology such as library PCs, self-check machines, e-readers, and tablets.

•    Some college required - LTA or coursework in progress a plus
•    Minimum one year experience working in a customer service position

The successful applicant will be an empathetic team player who possesses excellent customer service and current technology skills, is familiar with a wide variety of library materials, and has an abundance of energy.  The successful candidate will be available to work a varied schedule.

If selected to join our team, your primary work location will be our Randall Oaks Branch Library - a 5,000 square foot popular materials library located inside the Randall Oaks Recreation Center building at 500 N. Randall Road in West Dundee, IL.

•    Minimum one year experience working in a customer service position
•    Some college required - LTA or coursework in progress a plus

Our Youth Services Department staff members work in a team environment, sharing the duties required to provide full information services to young patrons of all ages.  The successful applicant will be comfortable working with the general public providing customer service to patrons at the library, by phone, and online. If selected to join our team, your primary work location will be the Dundee Library.
