Books can be a great way of finding inspiration for your New Year’s resolution. Last year, my New Year’s resolution was to cook every recipe in the Food 52 cookbook. It was my attempt to push my culinary comfort zone in both improving my cooking techniques and expanding my palette. I still haven’t quite made it through the book yet. I blame the incredible amount of desserts in the summer section of the book and my resolute desire never to turn an oven on when it’s above 80 degrees. Still, I greatly improved my cooking skills and enjoyed eating things I never thought I’d like (including a whole fish brined in salt). I also made a lot of things I’ll never make again (macaroons: delicious but so much work!). This year my New Year’s resolution is much less ambitious: do 10 push-ups a day (an attempt to get over my life long aversion to them).
Below I’ll highlight 15 books to help guide you along with your New Year’s resolutions.
