The holiday season is upon us, and that means decorating, shopping for presents, planning holiday gatherings, and more. It can be a stressful time, but the library has resources that can help make your holiday shopping and planning easier! A few years ago, I talked about Consumer Reports online and all it has to offer to help with holiday shopping. This year, I want to talk about one of our newer eResources, Creativebug.

As the weather starts to turn and fall creeps up on us, it means more than falling leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, and cozy sweater and scarf combos. It’s the best time of year to read something to scare your pants off and haunt your dreams.
We are pleased to announce that we’ve added a new eResource called Creativebug! Creativebug provides over 1,000 online, video-based art and craft classes led by expert instructors. Classes cover a variety of areas, including painting, drawing, ceramics, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, paper crafts, and more! Free crochet and knitting patterns are available for download as well. Creativebug is free to use and can be used in the library and remotely from home.
Don Alesi worked for nearly thirty years at a local cemetery. He helped thousands of people through some of the hardest times of their lives. After serving in the military, Don returned home and needed to find a job. A friend of the family offered him a job with benefits as a gravedigger. He accepted the job thinking he would keep it until something better came along. He found that he loved the job and was eventually promoted to director. After he retired Don decided to write his experiences in a memoir.
The Fox Valley Public Library is happy to share our new collection of books and DVDs from the Stuttering Foundation of America (www.stutteringhelp.org). If you or someone you love stutters, please know that you are not alone.
Due to unforseen complications on their end, LinkedIn has put a hold on changing Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning. LinkedIn has not yet determined how long this pause will last. Lynda.com will continue to function as usual, so you may still access that content while we wait for our new transition date. We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience. We are doing everything we can on our end to work with LinkedIn to make this transition as seamless as possible. As soon as we have more information, we will update this blog.
It's time for Part 2 of the Pride month LGBTQIA inspired reading list. Check out any of these books (one for every day in June) and take a look at Part 1 for the rest of the list.

Celebrations, pride parades, memorials, and much more will take place throughout the country in June, including right here in East Dundee with Pride on the Fox on June 15.
