Celebrate Latinx Authors!

Danielle's picture

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month we have a colorful "Celebrate Latinx Authors" display up in the Teen Area of the Dundee Library. In this blog post I'll highlight the books of Latinx authors, featured in the display, who you should check out! From Elizabeth Acevedo to Adam Silvera, these are prolific authors who have several titles published for teens. Part 2 of this blog post (coming soon) will focus on new authors who have recently released their first book.

Summer Debut Fiction

While reading a new book from a favorite author is always something to look forward to, there's also something wonderful about the discovery of something brand new. This summer has been full of debuts, with many still coming. Take a look at these titles from first-time novelists that were published in July and August, featuring selections from both Dundee and Randall Oaks libraries.

Teen Book List: Summer Reads

Danielle's picture

Summer was here again. Summer, summer, summer. I loved and hated summers. Summers had a logic all their
own and they always brought something out in me. Summer was supposed to be about freedom and youth and
no school and possibilities and adventure and exploration. Summer was a book of hope. That's why I loved and
hated summers. Because they made me want to believe.

New Adult Fiction

Just because libraries and bookstores were physically closed for months, that didn’t stop large numbers of books from being published during the lockdown period. Now that we’re back at Dundee, our Technical Services department has been working hard to process all the books on order that came out during that closure and since we’ve opened for curbside. Here’s a sampling of some of the new novels that have recently hit the shelves while you haven’t been able to browse.

New Teen Fiction

Have you gone through your stack of library books at home and are looking for more to read? Here are some new books that were recently added to the teen collection. These books fall into a range of genres-- contemporary, science fiction, mystery, fantasy, historical fiction, romance, and a collection of short stories. You can sign up to have your holds delivered to you, or, starting Monday, you can pick up your holds that are ready for pickup curbside at the Dundee Library.

Series Opening Books

Apart from lengthy books, which I wrote about here, extended time at home is also a great time to dive into a new series. The possibilities are endless, but here’s a selection of first books in popular series that you can get through our e-resources. If there's a hold list on one source, see if it's available with no wait on another!
