Hispanic Heritage Month Reading Challenge

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 - October 15. We challenge you to read any book written by a Hispanic author, or a book about a Latin American country, or a book set in a Latin American country (including those countries not listed below). You may read one of our recommended books or pick out a book on your own.

Just like our Summer Reading Challenge, the Hispanic Heritage Month Challenge will be available through the Beanstack app or website (this link will take you to the site). Once you log in, you’ll be able to join the new challenge. Click on any Activity Badge within Beanstack for reading recommendations. Once you’ve finished reading your book, simply enter the title into the relevant Activity Badge and you’re a winner! Participants can collect a goodie bag at either the Dundee or Randall Oaks Library upon completion of the Hispanic Heritage Month Reading Challenge.

Below is a list of our recommendations that appear in the Activity Badges. They include a variety of fiction and non-fiction in both adult and teen areas. (Kids can find reading recommendations in each activity badge.) This is just a small sample of titles by Hispanic authors available through FRVPLD, so feel free to branch out or ask staff for further recommendations. We look forward to seeing how many of you complete the challenge!
