I think the library is important to the community because: It is truly the hub of the community--an open and welcoming place where anyone can come to learn, relax, find entertainment, and participate.
I was inspired to become a member of the board because: The library has given so much to me, throughout my life, and I feel as though I have knowledge and passion to give back now.
My favorite way to use the library is: Ebooks and audiobooks for me, DVDs and physical books for my husband, summer reading and video games for my kids. We love the used book sales, and the museum tickets are great.
My favorite book is: An impossible question. I like really good true crime and investigative nonfiction (I just finished American Kingpin by Nick Bilton and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara--they were both fantastic). I love YA, and I love mysteries and thrillers.
Interests/Hobbies: I enjoy reading, crocheting, crafting, eating healthy and exercising, and binge-watching TV shows. I love good coffee.
Education/Degrees: BS in Applied Behavioral Science (National-Louis University), MS in Written Communication (National-Louis University), Ph.D. In Instructional Technology (Northern Illinois University).
Profession: I have been a teacher for 15 years, nine of those as a School Library Media Specialist. I work at Hampshire High School in District 300.
Family: Married for 18 years to Bill with two boys, Liam (15) and Ethan (11).
