This collection is also referred to as "Rockwell-McCanna Environmental Studies" or "EPA Materials."
The bulk of this collection is made up of information on soil and water contamination caused by local industrial plants. Most of these industrial plants are located in Carpentersville, IL and the main plant dealing with these contamination issues is the former Rockwell-McCanna Plant. Most of the information comes in the form of binders and plastic, spiral-bound books that contain reports on the various steps taken to address the contamination issues. The collection has a few reports dealing with issues other than contamination as well, including: electricity needs and reliability, Fox River bridge crossings, and Kane County water management and policies.

This container holds loose leaf documents pertaining to Rockwell-McCanna. Most of the documents are letters between Rockwell-McCanna representatives and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency discussing various reports or are small addendums to reports that have already been published.
Dark yellow container:
This container holds loose leaf documents pertaining to some of the other environmental issues discussed in this collection. Some of the documents are letters pertaining to the Kane County Water Management reports, and there is also a transcript from the Kane County, IL Sixteenth Judicial Circuit for People of the state of Illinois v. Cargill, Inc., which took place in 1995.

This report discusses the Longmeadow Parkway Project. It is a project involving the construction of a new highway between Huntley Road and Illinois Route 62, as well as the construction of a new bridge crossing over the Fox River in Kane County. The report discusses updated information on environmental studies that have been completed since the Environmental Impact Statement, which was dated November 2001. The report includes possible alternatives, impacts in a variety of areas, including: socio-economic, agricultural, air quality, noise, natural resources, water quality, and more, as well as information on permits/certifications required, and information on how the public can get involved. A copy of an RCRA Hazardous Waste Permit issued to Cargill Chemical Products, Inc. in Carpentersville, IL on September 29, 1989. It was issued by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the information it contains includes: a general description of the Cargill facility, incinerator requirements and data, requirements and data on storage tank systems, and reporting and notification requirements. Also included is a document from a public hearing with comments from the public and responses to those comments.

Data collected for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to assess and control contamination at the Carpentersville Waste Site. The purpose of the investigation is to give Kane County a scientific basis for creating policies and management strategies for its water resources. This portion deals with surface water accounting for water supply planning in Kane County. It discusses a water supply planning tool that describes the effects of water use based on the flow quantity of the Fox River and other streams in the region. There is data that explains present and past human effects on streamflow amount and the tool can be used to estimate (based on probability) present and future streamflow amounts.
