The Ruth Wendt Gallery is pleased to welcome a stellar collections of images lent by the Northwest Suburban Astronomers. The collection will be on display through July 28 to coincide with the library's Summer Reading Challenge theme, "A Universe of Stories."
Based in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago, the Northwest Suburban Astronomers is a group of about 150 individuals and families from all walks of life and all age groups who share an interest in amateur astronomy.
The club meets the Friday closest to the full Moon each month with a brief business meeting and an interesting program by members or guest speakers. Recent programs have included presentations on deep-sky observing and imaging, NASA missions, and theoretical astronomy. They also gather for star parties, camp outs, and their biggest event of the year, Astronomy Day, which attracts more than 1,000 enthusiasts.
The images here were provided by club members John Schwartz, Don Payne, and Len Kazmer.
