Stay at home time means READING time

Lockdown, quaratine, stay-at-home, however you want to say it, we've all been spending a LOT of time indoors over the past six weeks. My life has consisted of making face masks, watching TV, taking walks when the weather cooperated and reading.  Always, lots of reading.

My Kindle has become my go to during this time and I use Overdrive to borrow e-books from the library.  It is so easy!  I select the books from the Overdrive app on my phone and then have the books sent right to my Kindle.  Even if you don't have a Kindle, you can still easily borrow e-books and audio books from the library with Overdrive.  You can use Overdrive's reading app called Libby to read on other non-Kindle devices.  With Libby you can read on your phone, tablet or computer!

Last week I read The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel. I have been waiting for several months for this book to come out and was so happy when I received the email notification from Overdrive that the hold I had placed was ready for me.  I highly recommend both this title and this author!

Currently I am reading The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith, aka J.K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame. No magic in this book, just a down on his luck private investigator trying to figure out who killed a troubled super model.  Speaking of J.K. Rowling, Overdrive has copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone available for EVERYONE to read or listen to this month--in several different languages.  If you have never read the Harry Potter books, why not give them a try?  Or maybe it's time to re-read.  We all could use a little escape right about now.

If you haven't tried Overdrive, here's where you can start.  From the library's website home page click on ELIBRARY

From the ELIBRARY page you can find instructions on how to use Overdrive or any of our other eBook and eAudio Book platforms.

If you get in to trouble, you can always email us or call and leave a voicemail and one of our staff with return your call.
