Inspired by all the good things the holiday season has to offer, our Winter Reading Challenge takes place at a time which brings everyone closer together, as we celebrate wrapping up our hearts and giving a part of ourselves to our family, friends and neighbors.

Our youngest readers have the option of choosing to complete a themed activity or two hours of reading to complete each of our six different badges. With a calendar full of wonderful programs at the library, mix and match your choice of activities and reading, and cozy up with winter fun this season!

Activities include our monthly scavenger hunt or craft, practicing mindfulness by coloring your registration prize bookmark, attending a library program for the entire family, learning about your family’s history and traditions, or the traditions of your neighbors who live right down your very own street.

Need a little reading inspiration to get you into the cozy winter spirit? Below are a few of our favorite winter tales in the Youth Services Department for each badge, and as a fun twist on the season of giving, you can also stop by our Dundee or Randall Oaks locations to unwrap a surprise book or two from one of our Winter Reading Challenge book displays to complete your reading hours!

Ready to cross off four of six badges from your list this year? Join in on the fun and you’ll receive a bookmark and hot chocolate for registering and an exclusive plaid fleece blanket for finishing the challenge!

Happy Reading From The Youth Services Department!
