Dundee Library Construction
Starting in March 2026, visitors to the 50-year-old Dundee Library should expect to see construction activities as the Library invests in building maintenance, as well as efforts to improve energy efficiency and to enhance the Library environment. Planned improvements include:
- Roof replacement and upgraded insulation
- New HVAC equipment and building control system
- New windows throughout the library
- Architectural sunshades
What is the cost? Will I have to pay extra taxes?
The estimated construction costs for the project are approximately $2.75 million, approved by the Library Board at the December 2025 board meeting. The Library has successfully secured a $1 million federal grant for this project, and the remainder of the project will come from the library’s special reserve fund, where the library has been saving money for these necessary updates.
What is the timeline for construction?
Construction begins in March, and we expect it will take 6-8 months.
What does this mean for visitors?
The Dundee Library will remain open during construction; however, occasional half-day or full-day closures may be necessary due to major service interruptions, such as temporary power outages. During this time, some services may be limited or temporarily unavailable. Meeting room rentals are suspended until further notice, and select programs or events may be held at alternate locations. Visitors may also notice increased noise levels in certain areas of the building.
If a closure is required, updates will be posted on our website and social media channels.
