Monarch Stewardship: Raising the Next Generation

Come check out our last SURVIVOR Nature program for the summer. Enjoy a short presentation (indoors), live indoor Monarch habitats, and a walk through the Library Springs prairie to learn about identifying milkweed, Monarch eggs and their larvae (caterpillars). Do you think we wild find any chrysalis in the wild?

Only 1 to 2 % of all Monarch Eggs will survive long enough to emerge as a new butterfly? Did you know that is easy and inexpensive to raise them indoors and release into the wild? While Monarch butterflies populations are on the decline, the good new is that YOU CAN HELP! Find out how you be a part of raising the next generation. Learn to identify milkweed (the larval host plant), find eggs and safely raise them indoors.

Learn a new skill and explore the great oudoors at Dundee Township's Open Space @ Library Springs behind the East Dundee Library.  If inclement weather arises, the program will be indoors.
