Challenge Dates

June 1st - July 31st

This year, adventure begins here! Readers will hike to unknown literary peaks, battle the fictional elements, and survey the unearthly beauty of the written word. It all starts in the stacks of your local library.

Register using the Beanstack app or online, or get signed up in-person at a library service desk and conquer this year’s Summer Reading Challenge! Just for registering, earn a custom water bottle sticker, a coupon for free garlic knots courtesy of Papa Johns, and a voucher for two free tickets to a Kane County Cougars game. Don’t forget to join us on June 3rd for the Summer Reading Kick-off Picnic located on the Dundee Library’s front lawn. We’ll craft, snack, and above all enjoy the company of fellow readers. Pack a picnic basket and a blanket and join in on the family fun!

The 2024 Summer Reading Challenge also introduces a new BINGO-style format. It’s a fun way for both our newest and our most seasoned patrons to explore more of what the library has to offer. Each bingo square serves as an opportunity to earn a corresponding activity badge. Complete an activity, mark the square, collect a badge. (We know former scouts and regulars at the BINGO hall will be thrilled.) Achieve a BINGO by earning five activity badges in a row –vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Check out the list below to learn more about the activity badges.

Once you’ve crushed our challenge, return to the library as a full-fledged adventurer to collect your reward. Adults and teens can delight in the great outdoors with an ultra-portable Fox River Valley Library picnic blanket. For our younger patrons, playtime will soar to new heights with a colorful, easy-to-fly kite. All of our finishers can continue their summer of fun with a free book and a ticket to our annual pool party at Dolphin Cove on Sunday, August 4th.

So dust off your reading glasses, pack your imagination, and get ready to embark on a reading adventure!

Activity Badges

The activities this year are more diverse than ever before, but all of them fall into one of four categories: Read, Borrow, Use, or Attend.
