Pluck up your courage and a flashlight, it’s time for our Hallow-Read Challenge!
For the month of October, we’re gearing up for Halloween in the best way we know how: a hair-raising reading challenge! Readers 12 and up can join in on the Hallow-Read fun by signing-up in-person, on Beanstack online, or using the Beanstack app on a smart device. This challenge only takes one book to win and just for registering participants will earn a cute and spooky book button!
As always, readers are free to choose their own challenge-appropriate book (i.e. horror, paranormal, or thriller) or pick a title from our recommendations. We’ve put together two curated lists of titles suitable for any preference level of creepiness. Whether you’re a fan of hardcore thrills and chills or someone who prefers a dash of unease, we’ve got you covered.
Once you’ve finished reading your book, simply enter the title into the relevant activity to complete the challenge. Finishers take home a brand new book and will choose their prize from the following titles:
- You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron
- Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare
- Where He Can't Find You by Darcy Coates
- The Troop by Nick Cutter
- Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison
- The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
- Salem's Lot by Stephen King
- Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
- W0rldtr33 vol. 1 by James Tynion IV.
Book prizes can be collected starting October 8th at either the Dundee or Randall Oaks Library branch upon completion of our Hallow-Reading Challenge.
Note: All titles are available while supplies last.
