My Top 5 Albums of 2024

  1. Cosa Nuestra- Rauw Alejandro

A blend of salsa and reggaeton, this long-awaited album, teased in March and released in November, was worth the wait. With its flowing salsa sound and Daddy Yankees voice Khe? was the song I had on replay.

  1. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess- Chappell Roan

The entirety of this album is no skips from the upbeat bop song like HOTTOGO to the sad song of Coffee it’s a perfectly curated album. My absolute favorite song is Femininomenon not because the word is fun to say but because you can’t help but want to scream out the lyric “(Uhm, can you play a song with a $*#@^!% beat?)”, you will know when you listen to it.

  1. Short n’ Sweet- Sabrina Carpenter

Summer 2024 will forever have this album as its soundtrack, especially the song Espresso. This was just a fun no-nonsense album and the way Sabrina was able to market it was beautifully executed. Top songs include Please Please Please, Bed Chem and Juno.

  1. The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology- Taylor Swift

The overall theme was about the 5 stages of grief which she beautifully captured it through songs such as I can do it with a broken heart; upbeat with lyrics about heartbreak and being miserable but still faking it to everyone, even her fans and Prophecy; the yearning for love and fear that she might end up alone, trying to bargain with whoever can change her fate.

  1. Orquídeas- Kali Uchis

She's back with her sultry voice and a Spanish album to boot, had been waiting for this since 2020. Her album is filled with empowering songs like Diosa, Igual que un Angel, and Te mata.
